My collection is going to be called, Bedrooms. What
I want to do is to take capture portraits of individuals in their
bedroom to show how an environment can reflect what kind of person
they are. From all the photographs they hang up on their walls, the
posters, decors, and colored bed sheets, it can say a lot about the person
who takes ownership of that environment. I am hoping to find a variety
of individuals who express themselves in different aspects of culture,
hobbies, talents, passions, and personality.
How I plan to achieve this is to have the subject in his or her room,
casually, naturally, not posed, but expressive in a sense where they feel
comfortable in their own space. It won’t be just like a regular snapshot inside
a home, but photographs with different perspectives that show how a simple
corner or a desk can reflect who the person is. They are free to move and dress
the way they want just to express who they really are. For example, if the
person is quiet and down to earth, maybe I'll have her read a book on her bed,
while showing the environment in a wide angle. It all varies on the subject
itself. Some themes of personalities I hope to use are retro, culturally
involved, feminine, simple, and playful. Most of my photos will be full of
vibrant colors to show energy and excitement! I want my viewers to know more
about the person by allowing the image to speak for it-self.
